Is it just me or does it seem a bit strange that a team can win one game potentially? Then get through a play off to the finals

I know it's tough that there are 6 places left in the finals and there are 8 team who have not already qualified.  Why not have a single round robin of 10 teams in the finals as opposed to a lame prequalifier competition. I'm not having a go at any of the teams here, fair play for them, I never entered anything this year.

Why have a competition where you effectively shortlist 6 out of 8 teams???

Seems like a lot of extra expense for teams to me.
