The report is now on the RCCC website.  The website is unfortunately running very slowly but I am advised by the CEO that this is not deliberate.

A statement from Gail and Lyndsay issued by Alan Cowan of Simpson Marwick will be published here as soon as the report is released.

This is the statement.

"Gail Munro and Lyndsay Wilson welcome the long awaited publication of
the Independent Investigator's report and although they feel
disappointed that Michael Nicholson does not reach more definite
conclusions, they feel that the report is sufficient to vindicate
them both of the complaints made against them, namely that they refused
to play.  Whilst they are disappointed that the publication of the
report has not led to a resolution of matters,
they welcome the opportunity to resume the complaints
with the Conduct Panel which supported their request to have the matter
investigated, a promise by the RCCC to its members prior to the team's
return from Vernon."

I was struck that the RCCC announcement did not rate top billing in the News page of the website! Vernon comes in as number 3.

There's lots to talk about, even before studying the report. Particularly about the status of the current national coach position after 2010.

Good to see the report finally out and a cost has been included, £15,000 looks like money well spent!!

It is unfortunate that the RCCC did not see fit to blank out or otherwise obscure the address details of the players in the published appendices PDF - they are after all superfluous to the report.
I'm not sure whether the Data Protection Act has been contravened by this - or was it previously public information.

Well, at least I can say I've read it! I must congratulate Michael Nicholson on his work, it deals with a complex and often confusing sequence of events and -- surprise surprise -- tells us all what we already know. It is difficult to draw any positive conclusions from this except one: Gail was right to stand her ground after the main event. Whatever blame she and Lyndsay share with all the other parties, they had every right to fight for their integrity.

Is it too many cooks, or too many chiefs here? It is a sad display of a lack of communication and a lack of professionalism. We can only hope that any ongoing disciplinary matters do not dwell too much on blame, because, as I posted some weeks back, all parties are to blame, somewhere for something. Let's hope the RCCC go forward and take the lessons on board.

The Board believes that events in Vernon provide further evidence that the National Coach should be an employee of the RCCC. Other sports have already made this change. We have advised sportscotland of this unanimous view and will be pursuing it as part of the post Olympic review in 2010.

How can this be seen as money well spent.  The report does not tell us anything we did not already know???  No blame was apportioned to any one party.  In  my view it is "sweeping it under the carpet"  It has cost £15,000 with no resolution.  I can think of better things that £15,000 could have been spent on!!!!!
