Hi everyone!

I saw the link to your forum on the Scottish Curler website and thought I'd check it out.  It seems like a great forum; very informative.

I'm actually living in Scotland this year (in Edinburgh), doing a post-graduate program.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a club to curl with, but I'm on reserve for two clubs and am hoping that I'll be able to get at least a few games in this season.  I really miss going out on the ice each week.  I've only actually curled for two years and I'm not very good, but I have so much fun doing it.

I'm really hoping to be able to watch some curling while I'm here.  I figure I can't come to the birthplace of curling and not watch at least one good match.  Actually while I'm on here, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Edinburgh International.  I'd really love to go and check out some matches (Team Murdoch is one of my absolute favourite teams and I'd love to see them in action), and I wasn't sure if it's a spectator event.  Do I have to buy tickets or can I just go and watch?  Or are there any other stipulations that I'm not aware of?  If anyone knows anything, I'd really appreciate it.

Anyways, I look forward to reading more of the great posts on this forum.  It's such a great place to keep up with the sport.

Hullo there Sassy Canadian

First of all, as rickybobby has already said, you know where the rink is - just turn up.  You will be made most welcome.

I can exclusively reveal when Team Murdoch are on the ice:

Friday
9.30am v Andrew Reed on sheet 1
2.30pm v Neeleman on sheet 5
8.30pm (cracker, this) v David Edwards on Sheet 3

Saturday
11.30am v Jamie Dick on Sheet 6
5.30pm v Niklas Edin on Sheet 2.

A wee burdie has tell't me that his 3rd and 5th games may go out on the webcast (it depends on results and league tables).  I could tell you who the wee cock sparra is - but then I'd have to kill you!

Aye; a big build-up indeed but you're a man who has proved that he can handle the pressure over the long haul.  Take the Longniddry lass, for example... Smiley

Serious point - your earlier (slightly tongue-in-cheek, I know) post regarding your section has turned out to be prophetic - it is a tough section and no mistake.  Niklas Edin is proving himself to be quite a star this season on the WCT-E circuit and David Murdoch and his team - well, we know how lucky we are to have them representing us at the moment - they are world-class and no mistake.

Still and all - a good couple of measuring sticks against which to judge your progress...

It's the best tournament in Scotland outside the Perth Masters, which takes place in January so there should be some good curling.  If your're around in January pop up to Perth as 5 of the top Canadian rinks are coming across to take part.

Good morning and Merry Christmas, Sassy Canadian. In the event you need an infusion of maple leaf culture (you probably haven't heard "eh" for a long time), here's a heads-up: a contingent of curling Canucks will be in Scotland in January, playing for the Strathcona Cup. We'll be finishing the tour around the end of the month, at the Murrayfield. I believe we'll be there for a couple of days, at least, before we return home.
You can find out more about the tour here:

Regards to all.

Hi Harry - looking forward to meeting up with you at Drimsynie and other places - I have fond memories of Weyburn and it's time the hospitality was reciprocated.
