it would appear that these IT chaps really
are
that clever!
Go to any of the threads and the ads top and bottom of the page generally have a connection to the subject matter somewhere on the page, as witnessed in the previous thread when cartoons were mentioned and we had e-bay merch on sale on the lower banner ad.
This does of course open up a whole world of possibilities but for everyones sake lets keep it clean!
I'll get the ball rolling with something random thoughts on the defeat Rangers suffered at the hands of Inverness last night and the return of former favourite Mr Butcher coming back to haunt his former club.
Go to it ad men........

gosh, how exciting! Takes me back to my youth when Airfix models were all the rage and my nerdy school chums would spend playtime swapping stories of their latest purchase and arranging to pop round to help each other fix the transfers on after school.
To hell with that! I think I tried one Spitfire followed by a Sherman tank ( don't know if they still do but they used to have a tank range ) but rapidly became bored and got the football out.

Football?? tsk tsk, was always a Rugby person myself (watching it on the telly I mean, not playing it - I'm built like a stick insect).
Seriously though, the likes of Inflight are proper diecast models, no building required, it's just a rather big, heavy and beautiful static model.
A 1:200 '747-400 for example really IS something! (a matchbox model is about 1:600 or 1:500 to give you a sense of size of these things).
I'd hate to see what kind of weight a 747-800 or a '380 would be if they ever made one!
There are the Herpa Premium models, which are the very best, and are hollow so you can see through the windows, etc, but they are plastic, and one cannot justify spending the amount asked for a mere piece of plastic, no matter how spectacular they are. (Ok, that's not true, I bought a Portuguese '737 - 300 purely for the artwork in it's livery once).
As for airfix, about the only thing I have waiting to be built is a Britten Norman Islander!
I did the Orkney Inter island flights during the summer, including the world famous Westray to Papa Westray bit you see.
The problem is that both planes were in a special black Highland Park advertising livery, so it would be a difficult modeling project for someone like me, who has sod all modeling skills!
P.S., I hate football with a passion and I only ever fly when I have to, or, in the case above, for something special.
I am more into the models and the liveries than I am the planes themselves.

finally our casting nets a bite! At the time of reading this we had ads for die cast models at the bottom of the page which kind of proves my theory.
Rugby - game for thugs that don't have the skill to play football, how can any sport play with a non round ball? ridiculous.
thanks for the info on your hobby , it was erm.....facsinating!
lets get back to curling, theres so much excitement going on at the moment

You think that's bad?? just look at the likes of this guy!:
http://speedbird-utopia.synthasite.com/utopia-fleet.php
Yep, people actually fleet build (although the likes of the A380s are custom jobs obviously).
Annyway.
Yes, instead of chunks of metal, lets talk about chunks of (round) granite, yay!!

final word on this matter then its time to let it die a natural death - at the time of writing the ad at the bottom is for "build your own website" I guess in response to D.Thirds mention of "fleet build" . This coupled with the previous on die cast models satisfies my curiosity that, indeed, the ads do relate to trigger words within the posts.

The add for thousands of single women.. Do you think that they are trying to hint something?

sadly Megs yes. They are hinting that the majority of us are sad old buggers in mind and body and the thought of all these many single women ( tartan skirts or otherwise! ) that are out there just dying to listen to anecdotes of curling in days of yore is enough to get us energised and ready to face the day ahead.
( I notice that Doug struck a chored with the ad fairies with his mention of models - of the ship variety! )

Oh so THAT'S you I see up at the very end of platform 11 at Glasgow Central scratching those '156s for about the 500th time that day??
Never go down south to somewhere like Clapham Junction, it'll frazzle you right out .....just as a pair of '455s on a Shepperton service pass by for the 53rd time that day.
How people can do that for any length of time I know not.
