At first I though D.Third was rowing out to Cumbrae to play Millport. But am disapointed to find he hates our dimpled friend.
Besides the sport, though, most Golf Courses have some of the best scenery around, plus some great wild life. Unfortunately the best of the plant life is in the rough and out of bounds so I always hope never to see that but invariably do!
Dont know why we dont have more curling clubs attatched to Golf clubs like in Canada, Using the rink in summer for functions and catering and having a swimming pool to use heat exchangers  to keep the costs down. Hey ho Dream on -- like dreaming for better weather to play this b****y game!

I don't hate it as such, it's just that as a kid we always used to play it (very badly) many MANY moons ago, and, well, these days, it just isn't something that interests me
I have been dragged along to the golf at Loch Lomond and Turnberry since then, don't get me wrong, I have seen a few of the top players in the world playing but, I was more than anything else, just a slightly bemused spectator.

I saw a bit of it on the telly not so long ago, and all it did was remind me of how ridiculous football coaches etc look when they all stand there chewing gum like they are a bunch of cows, in the sense that, just about everyone I saw, both players and fans were ALL wearing hats. Nothing bad there, but combine it with those daft jumpers and gowd knows what else the players wear, the actual game itself, all these highly manicured and, quite frankly unnatural settings,  and, well, it all just looks faintly ludicrous.

Says me who sweeps ice for his sport!  Wink

Heck, I was so rubbish at golf as a kid that I think I once got a hole in one using a divet!!   Cheesy

I have never been one to advocate curling during the summer but as I stare out into the bleakness , grey clouds and heavy rain this morning my mind wanders to cosy days at the rink.
When I look at the forecast for the week ahead it would suggest that someone up there is not a fan of the links!

Someone did ask me lately why I don't curl during summer. My answer was that I didn't know... we just don't do it being a winter sport and all.

And I don't have time given my other sporting interests.

Sadly, I fall into the same category as DThird... I'm not a golfer much.

Although I do enjoy a good day out to the gowf... sun, grass... beer...

the usual.
