Grandson has a Wii which he brings when he visits.  Has anyone tried the Curling game for the Wii and if so is it good/bad/indifferent?

I have the Sports Island compilation of games which incorporates curling, it's ok for a laugh but not particularly reealistic in terms of shots played, tactics, etc.  The package as a whole is probably worth around £15 IMHO.

Not tried the Winter Sports one yet

I have a winter olympics game on the wii which has curling. I found it good novelty for a while although quite frustrating as well- In fact I'll sell it to you for £10 plus p+p! Fully boxed with instructions.

It's best played after a wee dram with friends- as most games for the wii are!

Sounds good - send me a PM with total cost or where you want the cheque sent or which ice rink do you frequent?

I do like playing games with the grandchildren but my shoulder can no longer cope with Wii tennis and I also hope I can beat them occasionally!

Funny you should mention that!

After totally moggering up the game at Braehead on Saturday morning there, I was sitting at Starbucks (Yes I know I know, but I was taking a nosey at the shops) getting a quick something to eat and I started talking the person beside me. Turns out she used to play Curling years ago and also told me of the Wii Sports Island curling game.

She told me that it was quite frustrating to play as she couldn't get it quite right.

Anyway I managed to convince her and her husband to come along and play next Saturday.

Whether they do or not is another question, but that's me, just doing my bit for the sport!  Cheesy

So, funny you should mention that!

Good stuff D Third, I think a really good curling game for the Wii could bring more people to the sport but it's up the the WCF to try and push for it I'd say

I have thought about how you could ever make a Curling machine, something to practice on, a bit like an Ergo or a treadmill, but, funnily enough, I cannot think of anything that would be massively practical!!   Cheesy

Embarrassingly, after encouraging the people who were telling me about the sports Island thing, to come along on Saturday morning, I slept in totally and missed it, so I don't know if they ever went along!!

By the way Strathy, that 'D' in my name stands for ... no, I'll let you guess   Roll Eyes

Could perfect a machine to practise sweeping on... shouldn't be too hard to rustle one up with changing resistance depending on... I dunno... how much weight you attach to the 'brush' to oppose your sweeping motion, or how much spring / elastic resistance you can get opposing the motion....

Hmm...

Hmmm

You can practice sweeping when you have no other option, but to do this thing called CLEAN!!

Short of sliding about on a highly polished wooden floor or similar, how would you go about the rest though??   Cheesy

I have Sport's Island for the Wii with the curling.  It was of some amusement at New Year when the family got together at our mum's.  My brother  in law got "curling" as a secret santa present (M&S apparently) and the kids had a blast.  Even my 3 year old neice had fun.

Back to the Wii curling tho.  It tricky, trying to balance weight, handle etc etc is not easy.  It fab fun tho when you have 3 family members who all curl or have curled and get beaten by their wee neices.  Cheesy
