Thanks Bob for the heads up on the fantastic number of people who wish to serve on the Board  Cry  When will the HHY's realise that Curling needs to be given back to the Curlers?

I'd say around about the time the Curlers get their heads out their knitting and golf bags and realise that it's theirs to take back.

Possible Rules changes are at http://www.royalcaledoniancurlingclub.org/rccc/index.cfm/rccc-news/rules-review-group-report-and-proposed-changes/

worth reading although I would be happier if the Rule concerning delivery by the cue was changed to the WCF Rule.

Sandy, I have to disagree to you and it is the following WCF Clause that puts me in that position.

(iv) The stone must be clearly released from the delivery stick before either foot of the player delivering the stone has reached the tee line at the delivering end.

Now, the only reason that I disagree is because 'most' of those, using the Stick, are doing so because of Age, Illness or Injury and I feel that the Tee Line is possibly too short a distance for some of them to gather sufficient momentum and correct their line of Delivery. Having said that, although the New RCCC Ruling is easier to Police, I feel that a slightly shorter distance might be sensible.

I feel that the Ruling should be this: The Stone should have left its contact, with the Stick, before any part of the Player's foot has crossed the outer edge of the Rings at the Delivery End.

A minor difference, but sufficient to give you Crumblies, (No disrespect meant, as I play the Stick when my old Hernia repair plays up) a chance of delivering a Stone with sufficient accuracy to keep a Skip happy. A very short a walk out does not allow many of these players to correct the initial drift that tends to occur at the beginning of the Delivery motion.

The Stick has made Curling a possibility for many who would have given up years ago. And ~~~~~~~~~~ This means an extra, potential, source of Income for the Rinks.

Sandy, I've just seen the Draw for 'The Nessie Mair'. I see that we meet at 9.45 on Wednesday morning, it is you isn't it?

A strong Team you have. Which set of Rules shall we play?

No chance I'll bring one with me if you wish.

Otherwise you'll have to make do with Coffee, Tea or Bovril ~ I find a Mug of Bovril a good stomach liner, first thing!

I shouldn't give you too much trouble, I managed to loose all three games in the Provost's Quaich last Sunday, a lamentable performance.

I hope that you'll be able to find room for a Bacon & Egg Roll after the game. I'll have him brew up some porridge if that floats your boat!

Sandy ~ times are tough and you're in for some bad luck ~ There 's been a number of Dropouts from the "Nessie Mair", my Team's been annihilated and now, I'm your Third ~ bad luck. However, I think we're in with a shout, I can't do worse than my last outing!

Just as long as you remember when I shout sweep you melt the ice and when I shout buy drink you buy the bar - not just the bottle  Grin

I am looking forward to it although being on the 8.00am ferry is going to be difficult!

Which I hope you devoured and enjoyed!  I couldn't make it in time because our ferry went off because of fog but I hope you enjoyed Curling with the wee dolly blonde who went as my substitute.

The porridge was excellent and Ellie played a cracking game, but we only managed Eighth.
