We might manage that when the Vernon result is announced - hopefully with Gail winning!

Sandy ~ I wouldn't bank on that, ~ Even if she is in the right (and in my opinion she is) the Law may find that she has not proven her case. This would be sad, expensive for her, and act as a green light for the more Authoritarian among our Coaches, to carry on bullying with impunity.

Eddie,

I do not subscribe to Sandy Morton’s blind support of Ms Munro. Whatever the result in the Court Case there was, in my opinion, fault on both sides.

With regard to your comment above, I would venture that from at least one of his then employers perspective Mr Brown should have sat back and let the car crash continue. The likely 1-10 final result could then be used to argue for squad representation at the worlds rather than allowing what some may perceive to be future rogue winners to represent Scotland and potentially damage Olympic qualification.

Whatever the flaws in his handling of the situation I think Mr Brown was acting in what he believed to be the best interests of Team Scotland.

Whilst Derek has taken all the flack for making the decision to bench Gail which seemed to be his prerogative as head coach- what was happening at this end at the RCCC. Surely he was updating on a match by match basis - if not then why wasn't he being asked for updates

From memory Derek had 3 line managers at Vernon

I think you and BH are missing a major point here. The court case is for 'defamation of character'. That has nothing to do with Gail being dropped or the team not performing well, or anything to do with olympic points. It's to do with Derek Brown accusing Gail Munro of turning her back on Scotland. She is perfectly entitled to right a wrong.

Voila

I've read the full report and indices

I'm not missing the point - there are only 2 people who know the entire story and they are facing each other in court. It simply goes down to who is believed.

There must have been a better way to resolve this

strutty - imvho more than two people know the entire story since the Scottish squad in Vernon was a wee bit more that two.  The better way to resolve this would have been - again imvho - better communication - a simple apology would have ended it all and saved quite a few lawyers from adding to their retirement fund.

Sandy

Have to agree about the apology. One apology could have covered any " misunderstandings" over who was or wasn't playing, Who was or wasn't asked to play and who did or didn't allegedly remove Scotland banners prior to the last 2 games.

As reported in the Sunday Times dated 30 Aug 2009

with all due respect I wasn't present or involved so I don't feel fit to comment on these points.  I will leave that to Gail; who will no doubt wish to clarify any outstanding points after the Court decision has been made and provided an appeal has not been lodged by either side.

Sandy

What I meant about only 2 people knowing what the full story was - there was so much interaction between individual players and differences in storeis due to time lag etc.

Only Gail and Derek know what was said or not said - as Ronan Keating once said ...

You say it best - when you say nothing at all
