Good luck to him. I hope that he prospers.

At the time, I felt that he was the wrong man for Scotland, but that was then, now I wish him a successful posting.

If you can't see an easy team in your section of the draw, then you're the easy team!

As I have said before I think Gail, Lindsay etc were not the only victims at Vernon...although victims they were. I also felt that "broonie" was shafted by the system and he was left to fire the bullets from a revolver which had been loaded before and indeed used before. I think it is wrong the way team munro were treated but also the way previous champions were treated. The names of steven rankine and graeme cormack are in my head but i cant remember the exact details. But there have been other cases when 5th men have been ousted or  indeed "forced" onto a team...which means there is no longer a team in my book!!! Old fashioned I know.

So I for one will give tribute for all derek did in bringing the professionalism his paymasters wanted to the fore. I will never agree with some of what they wanted but c'est la vie.  Maybe (sic) Derek didnt man manage "that" situation well but I think he has taken the flak that a lot of others could also be taking. Too many teams and players (unlike Gail) merely acquiesced, doffed their caps and didnt rock the boat they had scrambled onto. They too have culpability.

So Derek if you ever read this forum..I doubt it....  I wish you, and USA curling, well.

Could I also table Neil Hampton and his subsequent treatment?

Concur with Steve Rankin and Graham Cormack. But at least they got on the ice first. Stories of the in-house percentages used to bench them thereafter are almost certainly sub judice.
