Anyone else from the Forum attending?  Millport will be represented by Frank Mapes, me, Anne Mapes and Willie McIntyre - combined ages almost 300 - I'm the youngest and least fit.

Twenty-four teams, including some from Spain, Holland and the USA. Play begins at 11.00 am on Friday.

Millport Sandy has threatened to play in his shorts, so I plan to be there to get the 'photo of the decade'!

Right on Q the 'winter weather' arrives, heavy rain and cold.  Not sure anyone will be playing in shorts and sunglasses today more like wellies and raincoat!

Still lovely and sunny for T in the Park and that all that matters.

Despite miserable and testing weather conditions (aswell as a slight technical mis-hap on day 1), we are enjoying good playable ice here in dumfries. Ice boys have been putting in long hard hours to ensure all of our vistors are treated to great sessions of summer curling - who says its a winter sport  Cool ? One guest who will rename nameless has been heard to say it is some of the best summer ice she has played on (not sure how many she has played though). Some useful hints, tips and tutoring from Hans & Leif in Fussen have been put into practice and are paying dividends.

Thanks to all who showed us support

It was a pleasure to attend - just don't ask for our scores.  Met, socialised and played against some exceptional teams.  Highlight/embarrassment this morning in the shoot out when a team with a total age of 48 beat us (our total ages are 280!)

Hope that it will be held again and if so we'll be back.

Agree with Sandy. Very good event and Dumfries has plenty to see and do... day and night! (apparently).  Well run by graham and a lot of work by icemen into getting the ice good. The placement of stones was different (maybe should be a time limit!!!). All the local curlers and committee very friendly and helpful and was a great atmosphere throughout competition. Standard was good and Sandy and his team certainly gave the tournament winners their hardest game. And it was good to drive home from a spiel in daylight!  Hope to go back.

As just an observer for a little on each of the three days, I thought it was great. The event had something for everyone.

I've posted a few pics at skipcottage.blogspot.com to give a flavour of it.
And a 'guess whose knees' and 'guess whose feet' competition. The things you see at summerspiels!

As another attendee of the Summerspiel, I also had a great time.  My team weren't up to our usual standard in our first game and we managed to 'fresh' 6 stones in a row (the skip even managed to play the wrong hand and got a ribbing for it!), but we held our heads high and battled on.

Graham put a lot of hard work into the organising and running of the event, and having done similar things in the ast I can appreciate the work that he put in.

Here's hoping that the second summerspiel will be in 2010 and we can all go back again!

Oh.  And Bob - I know the answers to both the Guess who questions!!!!

I'm pleased that Kirsty can recognise her own foot! If you look closely at the tattoo it is made up of her own initials.

And if I can echo her comments about Graham Sloan, and he's still hard at it this week organising the Homecoming Scotland International Junior Camp!

Acht!! after all that stuff about summer Curling, I ended up being too busy and, tired and ill to do anything!!

Hope you all had a good time and i also hope that I at least managed to spur some of you into doing it (although I doubt it!!).
