I personally think it'll be Team Murdoch + Warwick on the Mens side, and as for the womens I think Eve and Jackie are in, dunno about the rest.

Anyone elses cards on the table?

I agree with this.  After team Murdoch's latest success who Else could the choose???
I hope Eve and Jackie are two definitely in.
Do you think that Kelly would play third to eve? Or is that a ridiculous thing to say?

I don't think it's ridiculous in that she played second to Rhona and Jackie in Torino in 2006, in fairness she has been much more of a top level skip since then after Jackie joined her team.

Who knows??  Well Nancy Murdoch has a fair idea I would guess

Think the mens team has picked its self, winning the worlds does help and it is only 5th to pick.

Women's is more open but not sure it was correct for Nancy to take Kelly & Lorna to Vancouver to the Juniors, is this not showing favouritism and if 1 of them is left behind was it a good use of resources to take someone all the way on a jolly to see an arena?

Agree with men's team but there will be a lot of unrest if some of the heavily funded players are left out of the ladies.

The actions of taking the ladies to Vancouver would suggest that Kelly and Lorna are in, Eve is in, and In my opinion Jackie is in.

So that leaves Karen and Lynn fighting for the other place?  Could go either way.

I was aware that all the ladies were given the chance to visit vancouver. Lynne and Karen had work commitments and Jackie was preparing to go to Korea Worlds therefore could not go.

I might be wrong but if anyone else knows anything else please do let us know.

Was speaking to someone at the Rinks who claimed to be in the know who was adamant that (despite the qualification criteria) Graeme Connel would be the fifth player for the mens team.

Now that would be a story.

Wouldn't surprise me. You obviously didn't see my hint:
http://skipcottage.blogspot.com/2009/04/world-champs-home.html
or maybe I wasn't being obvious enough!

It would be a good decision. I cannot see Warwick wanting to go just as 5th player. He may well be nominated as the non-travelling reserve, there in the background in case of injury happening in the rest of this year. I suspect Craig will be the one that misses out completely.

My guess is that Karen will get the nod over Lynn for the fifth place in the women's team.

But this is all speculation of course. We'll know soon enough.

I saw Dave Hay give an interview at the time of the Scottish championship and I thought at that point (reading between the lines) that Graeme was in the mix for selection.
Very tough on the guys who did commit to the programme mind you!
They are ALL exceptional players, it is just about team dynamics now.

Graeme is a great guy but if he goes it just makes a mockery of the whole Olympic set up.
It can,t happen but if it does, why do we bother with rule's, systems or criteria at all.

I have to agree with HLW  here

I would say that Graeme would be an ideal choice reTeam Dynamics however I also think jjk makes an excellent point

What about these 2 guys who have given their commitment to the programme?  and what about the funding of the programme have 1/3 of those funded been flogging a dead horse?

I'm not saying what would be right and wrong just pointing out things that would be discussed if this idea came to fruition.

I also think that it highlights the clear differences between the selection process and selection dilemma's that the Mens and Womens coachesare being exposed to!

Surely it must be the best player to go not someone who has committed to the programme. If Graeme is chosen their has to be a good reason for it and I'm sure  D.Hay will make the right choice come  1st of May.
