Hoooooraaaaayyyyyyyy
Well done to all those that organised it..........now all we need is Sportscotland to support the events a bit (prize money or reduced entry fee) and we will be cooking the gas.

Agree DA
Congratulations and well done to all concerned in getting the Goldline Scottish Curling Tour set up to form the second pathway to be established for 2011 / 12 season the other one having been set up by the RCCC (Royal Club Talent Programme)
With these two new pathways and last years undoubtedly successful introduction of the Scottish Women’s Tour (by two quines) which is to continue this coming season, there is no doubt there are curlers out there working for club curlers and giving them the opportunity IF THEY WISH to take their curling to another level.  Cool

Not sure where the Inverness Skins fits into the Scottish Curling Tour.

Presumably the intention is to attract a stronger field with performance on the ice being the primary focus of participants.

Be a shame to see the skins become anything other than a boozefest IMO. U need at Least 1 good blowout to enjoy and relax.

Baw,

Glad you recognise the general perception of the Inverness Skins.

Don’t mind people enjoying a few beers after a game particularly if it helps the coffers of the ice rink. However I can’t see where people drinking on the ice or curling half cut fits into a Scottish Curling Tour. But perhaps it does and it explains the criteria drawn up by the performance director for the elite squads.

Here’s a thought.

While acknowledging the level of hypocrisy that follows, I sat through the excruciating Inverness Skins Saturday night disco with a teammate a few years ago watching the antics of elite junior curlers and the odd senior. We both concurred that we were relieved our respective 12 and 13 year olds showed no interest in the game.

By the way Baw, I note the new curloneout blog is featuring on the need for a good blowout to both enjoy and relax. Sounds right up your alley.

Boss,

Well done at officially having " Vice " after your name.............

I have always enjoyed the social side of the skins in Inverness but if you go through the team lists for the last few years you'll see that it is rare for the elite teams to enter with their full lineups. From this I take it that it has been viewed as a p**s up with curling thrown in - take note of the beer glasses to signify a skin won !!.

The whole event seems to have made a huge change towards elite curling participation - I hope that the "big" teams will send their full teams but this may be at the expense of the social side of the event.

Strutty,

Had forgotten about the beer glass scoring system. Few years since I played.

As I said in my original post presumably the intention is to attract a stronger field with performance on the ice being the primary focus of participants.

Hopefully this will be the case and the event will be well supported. Presumably selection criteria will be on ability alone so a few of the seniors and locals who have made up the numbers recently may miss the cut.

On general performance last year I think invites to any events will be like hens teeth for me...

I think the people behind the tour deserve loads of credit for at least trying to get something new off the ground - and it has a decent reward at the end of it. A good " sober " performance at the Inverness skins may finance other weekends which is also a good thing.

Roll on the curling season.......not got much on just now   Grin

Bob,

Think I was in the bar with a hangover for that game - either that or team Craigie's choice of trousers !!
