Further to the Skip Cottage post today about the Junior Boys Districts would it not have been a much better idea to have a playoff between the 3rd placed teams playing in the sections of 5 and keep the finals at 8 teams rather than have 9 teams at finals and complicate it for everyone!!??

That'll be because the powers that be will do things more complicated if it can be done more complicated .

Phantom - agree with you about the complicated bit.

I can remember a mini tour event few years ago and it was tied. So 3 teams played, I think, it was 5 end games off against each other. 2 teams still tied so they ended up drawing the shot at about midnight!

They could have drawn the shot at about 6.30 pm and let ice staff, players etc get to there beds as the next round was back on a 8am the next morning.

I can remember making the point of over complication to Colin Hamilton and was told this is what teams wanted.  I replied with 'teams really want a system so complicated that no one understands?' He assured me they did!!
