I have been following the progress of Lee Mcleary over the past couple of years and he is now playing some very good curling. On current form he is capable of winning any game he plays in. He my not be the favourite of the masses but i would just like to wish him and his team all the very best for the Scottish Championship. It will be great to see them up there challenging. Take them lightly at your pearl

indeed mcleary is a strong lineup with Jim Strang and Robbie Stevenson but it is going to take experience and big bollocks to challenge Murdoch - Hammy would be my bet !

I haven't seen any advance notification of webcasting, so I must assume the curlers will be out of our sight for this competition? What a shame....

I thought that these games were going to be webcast and would also have a chat box at the side of the video window.  Mitchnet where are you when we need you?  Also has G83 returned from France to do the commentary or is he lost in transit?

Odin and DA..I couldn't agree with you more. I have watched the McLeary team and they are a very experienced and steady team. Anyone who beats them will require to play very well. Hammy needed a three in the last end to peel the game before stealing in the extra against them in the Scottish qualifiers last month. But DA, like you, if there is a team worth putting a bet on, I would pick Hammy's team. There is more flair in that team then anyone I've seen this season. Everybody talks about Dave Murdoch's double takeout in the European final against Ulsrud. Whilst I applaud that shot, and with no disrespect to David, Hammy's doing shots like that every time he comes on the ice!

So my prediction is Hammy to edge the final over Murdoch.(Especially if his young front end hit some steady and consitent form)

Sorry to disappoint you, Sandy, but it appears that the BBC holds the broadcasting rights to the whole event even though they will only cover the two finals.

Thanks EGO, I was just going to post the same info.

Look on the bright side, if it does come down to a McMillan - Murdoch final everyone shall see a good 30 minutes of it on a big screen, but not live though.

There is no bright side. The RCCC is being paid for broadcasting rights, so that we can't CANNOT see curling on the web or the telly? It stinks!

the RCCC come in for enough criticism in these parts, why should they not receive an income from our major mens competition ? Would you rather they waived the tv rights?

It appears that the BBC pays something like £2000 for broadcast rights every year. Don't quote me on the figure, the amount is not the thing here. What I am saying is this: If the BBC locks up broadcasting and only gives £2000 for broadcasting 30 mins of curling late on Monday night, is that better than the RCCC paying £2000 to put the Finals week live on the internet and, inevitably, attract a sponsor who will pay these costs and more? The latter makes sense to me.

However, no doubt the contract with the BBC was negotiated and signed long before webcasting became a good option, thanks to Mitchnet. In fact, I am not criticising the RCCC here, I believe the BBC is acting quite shamefully in not broadcasting more -- or allowing Mitchnet to do his bit despite the contract! He would be able to generate interest throughout the week and guarantee many more viewers for the BBC to broadcast the finals live!

even tucked away on the graveyard shift the half hour on BBC probably does more for the game in general than showing the full event via internet to half a dozen retirees, the caveat being that when web based broadcasting becomes more common as it inevitably will do , the opposite will be true - but thats not the case at present

Yes, it is true. I figure not many people know this.

In contrast, the WCF puts huge sums of money into providing the broadcast feed for Eurosport.

I have agree too with invicta's last post which initially had me seeing red!
