Skipcottage today has more of Bob's excellent postings and comments with lots to make us all wonder about the way forward.  I trust that those of us who have the ear of a Board, ASC or LSC member make sure that it is compulsory reading for them.

Skip cottage is invaluable for so many reasons.
Bob, my contribution will follow ALSO
My home club used to subscribe to The Curler mag and the club will also be diverting our former subscription in Bobs direction.
Perhaps other clubs could be encouraged to do the same.

just a thought !

That's the slant I've put on things for the last two seasons, my "Scottish Curler" subscription having been redirected to Wamphray.
If anything SkipCottage curling is far more immediate than the curler and certainly allows got a greater interaction.

Skip Cottage Curling will close its doors at the end of this season.

That's the official news on Bob's Blog. What curling in Scotland will do without this blog I simply do not know, but Bob has done his best, he made a brave decision and -- however sad the news -- he has made curling a better thing.

Thank you, Bob.

Thanks Bob.  Your coaching, the Scottish Curler and SkipCottage have been major pleasures in my life and the last one will be sorely missed - I had hoped that you would have kept going for a wee bit longer - round about 50 years  Grin  Enjoy your retirement

Does anyone know if Bob Cowan has previously won the RCCC Ice Diamond Award. I know you read this Bob, so let me know. If you / he hasn't.  I would like to make sure Bob Cowan is, at the very least,  nominated for his fantastic service to the sport- Skip Cottage will be badly missed, and we will all be the poorer without Skip Cottage letting us know what is happening in curling circles.

Nominations by 10th April http://royalcaledoniancurlingclub.org/blog/nominations-for-scottish-curling-awards-now-open/

It is my understanding that Bob has not only won it all, but does not wish to be nominated this year. We have to respect this, however much we know he deserves it!

Had we, the Curling Community, contributed more to Bob's efforts. He might have been able to demonstrate an Income Stream that would have attracted another to take up the baton.

However, we are all too accustomed, by all I'm referring to Internet users in general, to receiving everything for free and should not be surprised when those that do something for love, decide to give up the good work and are unable to find another to do it for nothing.

I tried to nominate him but he did not want me to, advising that he is one of two to have received a 'Lifetime' Award from the RCCC and that the Ice Diamond Award was all or partially his idea.  I dont like using the word but - RESPECT
