Entries not looking too healthy especially in the Juniors - men and women. With only 11 in Junior girls and 17 in junior men. In my day ............!!

Only 10 womens teams also a sad reflection something is seriously wrong in the womens competitive game.

28 teams in the mens - OK - but makes a mockery of having to play a pre-qualifier - i havent worked out how many teams get a bye to the regionals but i hope that they say up front how many teams will qualify through the minitour instead of making it up to suit as they went along like last year.

yea i agree, all the draws looker weaker than they have done in previous years.

on the junior boys side it looks like there is a lack of depth in teams that could qualify(also where is mike Reid?), it is also the same old story for the girls and ladies infact.

I would also like to know in advance how many qualify from the mini tour because i am playing mini tour and hopefully qualify for playdowns from it.

This may be part of the problem of having to enter the Scottish and Scottish Juniors at such an early date. In the past (10 yeares or so ago) it was in Earely November which gave teams a chance to form or get together following the initial weekend curling events. Making a commitment to joining and playing with a team or a bunch of curlers you may not know well or get on with at the end of a season when you may not even play together until September or October is a stab in the dark for some. It must decrease the number who might other wise enter.
It will be interesting for instance in the Juniors how many enter Greenacres and Kinross this year in comparison with the number of teams that have entered the Scottish Juniors.
While it may have been a good idea 6 or 8 years ago to have early entry maybe the entry date might be adjusted or changed for next season.

I don't think there is any way it can be made later due to the need to book the ice. And I know if I was part of an ice rink I would want to know if I was to leave a weekend free for RCCC use, rather than sell the ice, as soon as possible.

I don't really see the problem with the early entry to be honest.

I dont think there is any problem with the entry date.  I just dont think it is worthwhile anymore, used to be that you could go and have fun for the weekend and miby even enjoy some chat with opposing teams. Nowadays the coaches are more interested in de-briefs opposed to letting the team socialise.  Full time job is another problem i have as i dont want to take loads of time off work.
