The new E-magazine, Your Curler, is now available to members and also to others here:

But of course, there's nothing really new, and beware of the glaring adverts! Well done, RCCC, it's a start.

Dunoonrock, I could take this personally, but I won't. If I could find anything to commend in this effort by the RCCC, I would commend it. I tried really hard, I found very little, other than that an effort has been made. Am I peaceful with life? No. I am furious. The same RCCC who dismissed me as irrelevant as an umpire, is looking for umpires. See their website, Believe me, I am trying really hard to support the RCCC in any way. I fail, because I can't find anything to support. Is this my fault?

OMG, DR has an axe to grind. Sorry mate, I'm a grinder but not a grindstone.

No Axes here just a comment.
As to the new RCCC on line magazine it may not be cutting edge but it is a start. They possibly requested articles from curlers but the summer such as it has been is the off season. Its a start and should be encouraged. Possibly articles from umpires coaches and ice makers. Real cutting edge stuff to educate us!

With this I must agree. Fact is, at present the likes of Bob's Blog and other sites keep us well informed, but should these not be there the vacuum will be serious. Start now, work at it, make it good and be ready. Yes, I like that. But please, please make it cutting edge and even controversial, let the flood gates open!

As a first issue I think it is quite good but what it lacks, and Bob's Blog conveys, is the urgency of immediate news which is expected in the modern world.  So let's add a fiver to the RCCC sub and get a full time media correspondent and let Bob gracefully retire - with an attendant fee as a consultant and advisor.

Wise words. There is only one man I know who can make this work for the RCCC, and that is Bob. It is a sad truth that the RCCC will have substantial difficulty in accepting this. Come on, Bruce, bite the bullet, make it work.

MMMM -£65,000 for a media correspondent (plus a fee to Bob)-I wonder what sort of a row that would generate.
As for "immediate news" it can't be said that "The Scottish Curler" gave us immediate news.
It's the curlers collective job to flood this new vehicle with up to date news, photos etc
Come on let's get behind this new and innovative venture

As I said its a good first effort at the beginning of the season before some have even started to curl.
Roger is right the members would baulk at paying a Media consultant or Media writer. Miss Adams is doing a great job and I am sure it will improve. The e Mag is meant to be informative as well as reporting on events but I would not expect it to be argumentative or contrary to RCCC policies. One RCCC Media representative had to fall on his sword 20 years ago for going against RCCC Exec policy.
The Scottish Curler was great at reporting events that had happened a month or so before one read it and under Robin Crearie and then Bob Cowan it did not pull any punches to be critical. Dont expect this to be critical.
Lets give the RCCC a chance to get up and running.
If you want to criticise it do so after it has settled or even better send articles to the RCCC mag 'Your Curler'.

I don't snipe at the RCCC and I do regularly communicate with most of the staff.  I think that this CEO and the previous one were grateful for my assistance.  Pete Allan and I were very involved in the initial RCCC website.  I did not say that the Curler was immediate I said that Skipcottage was immediate and to my mind it is although I also read the RCCC website on a very regular basis and I have no doubt that I will contribute to Your Curler where possible and appropriate.  Also for those who don't know I have served on Council/ASC and was at one time Finance Convener.  I didn't do these things in a negative fashion and my comments about Your Curler were not intended to be negative and although I can no longer Curl regularly or visit many Curling rinks I am still able to communicate and I will do as long as I am able.

Nothing wrong with Your Curler.

It's a bit like any Company's Magazine, sycophantic and bland, nothing wrong with that and at least they're not wasting any money, by printing it.

Well, some forums permit guests to read and post, some permit guests to read only and some are restricted to registered members. We'd recommend registering at any forum that you see yourself using regularly because many of the most useful features will only become available to you when you do so.
