Thanks for that Sandy

I've been making ice for almost 20 yrs now , how come I've never heard of this before. I looked at the members and it said a core of ice makers got together at forrest hills to start SCIG ( sounds a bit Cliquey to me ). How come I was never invited I was actively working in Dundee at the time and I never heard of this , I might of come along and put my tuppence worth in.

Not so much of the cliquey, mate! My records show that all curling rinks, including Dundee, received invitations to all the Curling-Ice Conferences held at Forest Hills. I suggest you ask your boss at the time. I personally issued the invitations, addressed them, posted them and paid for the stamps. At the time there was a clique, as I remember, between a group of ice rink bosses who tried very hard to prevent the SCIG from existing!

When I went onto the SCIG and read what was there it came across to me as it was a bit cliquey , I am not saying it is , it's just the way it is worded John no offence intended. I was never made aware of this whilst at Dundee so it may be something that was withheld from me at that time. Was Dundee one of the rinks trying to stop this Yes/No  answers on a postcard to the usual address.

No comment. The database currently holds some 150 names. The SCIG has never tried to recruit members, name opponents or get involved in politics. We do ice, end of, and anyone interested can voice their support, in private or in public.

JM ~ Well replied.

I think that TPN is trying to get a rise out of you.

As I am not involved in Ice Making in any way I think that I can say that I find TPN somewhat naive and that not all his/her statements have the ring of truth, "I've been making ice for almost 20 yrs now, " springs to mind.

Thanks for that wee eddie , I think you are the one that is a bit naive , John knows who I am as does SJK and yes  I have been making ice since 31/12/90 to be precise. As for for trying to get a rise out of John , I think not I apologised in my last post ( no ffence intended ) as I expressed exactly what I thought when I read about  SCIG.Perhaps if you were educated enough , you would of seen that in my last post , perhaps tho you maybe a little short sighted therefore I will give you the benefit of doubt. Anyhow wee eddie yer wife's shouting on ye , yer tea's ready !!!!!!!!

With thanks to those who have emailed me, and apologies for the inconvenience that the SCIG website was unobtainable for two weeks. The server changed things, then lightning blew BT equipment somewhere and killed my broadband, so I couldn't do a thing! But all have been repaired now and the site is active again.
